A damselfly is easily mistaken as a dragonfly due to its two big compound eyes. An easier way to tell the difference of an adult damselfly from a dragonfly is by looking at how the wings are held when it is at rest. A damselfly holds its wings along the body, whilst a dragonfly spreads its wings, when at rest.
Another major difference of a damselfly from a dragonfly is that the two compound eyes are separated, one on each side of its head.
