There is a river in Kaohsiung named Ai He (愛河), which literally means Love River. My mom told me that the river was heavily polluted with sewerage with stinking smell in the 70s and 80s. Nowadays, it has become a tourist attraction with parks and cafes adorning the waterfront.
When I went on my Taiwan trip earlier this year, I had an opportunity to visit this waterfront, thanks to my godsister and her husband. Although the visit was a short one before dinner, I still managed to catch some of the twilight moments along the river.
