Makapu'u is at the extreme eastern end of the Oahu which has very scenery. I had a chance to visit this place when I signed up for a Sunrise Tour operated by the Oahu Photography Tours. I had to wake up at around 4 a.m. as the pick-up was at 4:30 a.m. However, the tour guide didn't come until 5:15 a.m. as that tour was fully booked on that day and my hotel was the last pick-up point. The tour operater Alex who was also our tour guide apologised for being late. Without any delay, I hoped on to his four-wheel drive and up we went to our first destination, Makapu'u. Our first shooting location was at a rocky shore. I quickly setup my tripod and camera and started shooting.
The sun did not show up until 5:50 a.m. and I managed to capture that instant moment.
After catching the sunrise, we spotted a person doing game fishing at a distance, so I changed to a telephoto zoom lens to continue shooting.
Before we moved to another shooting location, I managed to capture the twilight moment again. We could see a storm moving in from the sea this time.
We arrived at the second shooting location which was the Makapu'u Lookout Point. Unfortunately the storm hit our shooting location and we had to stop and seek for shelter only after a few photos taken. Well, it was a nice experience for being able to shoot photos in the rain.
