My Photo is Featured in Newspaper

I sent in a photo that I took at the Kuching Waterfront a few weeks ago and it was selected the best shot for the theme of 'The Splendid Sarawak' (砂拉越繁华的一面) in the Cyberworld (新媒體) of Sin Chew Daily (星洲日報) on Wednesday, 5th December 2007. I didn't know about it until I received an SMS from a friend who spotted it last evening and I quickly ran downstairs to grab the newspaper to read that section. I was so happy to see that my photo was selected as the best shot under the theme of yesterday's publication.

The prize-winning photo belongs to the set of photos that I have put up on my blog some time ago. You may click on the photo below to follow the link to that post. Thanks for reading this. :)

Santorini – Almost Heaven: The Golden Hour at Fira

The whole Fira town sits on the ridges and the steep cliffs of the collapsed caldera. During the golden hour, the multi-coloured rock layers play the symphony of colours right before our eyes. Coupled with the golden glow of the buildings on the ridges and the steep cliffs dropping into the deep blue sea, it is really a moment not to be missed under the cooling sea breeze.

The clouds have also caught the golden glow.

The multi-coloured rock-encrusted caldera glows under the golden sun.

You can imagine how strong the sea breeze is by looking at the swaying trees.

Santorini – Almost Heaven: The Southern Crosses in Fira

The churches on the islands of Greece are mostly small with hemispherical domes. They are mostly painted white in colour with a few exceptions. The white ones with blue domes are the signature amongst the island buildings that appear on picture postcards. However, there are not many white churches with blue domes around Fira, as I saw more white domes here.

A very unique architecture in Fira, the Orthodox Cathedral.

The white dome that looks like the head of 'Pinhead'.

The bell tower and the dome of an orthodox church.

The white onion.

I have found a blue dome!
