The Baba and the Shrimp Dumplings

Jonker 88 is a famed eatery in Melaka. It is not unlikely that you can't find this shop as there is a constant queue for the table and also for ordering food. Getting a table for yourself is almost impossible and you always end up sharing table with others.

We wanted to try the Nyonya Asam Laksa but it was all sold out, so we settled for the Baba Laksa which has a spicy coconut milk base. The laksa was good but not surprisingly good.

We also had the Shrimp Dumpling Soup Noodle and the taste was nothing to shout about. The deep fried shrimp dumplings were quite generously stuffed with minced shrimp but the skin was a bit hard.

Another speciality of the shop is the chendol but my cousin tried and said it was not really nice, so I decided to skip.

The Night Market at Jonker Walk

On every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jonker Walk is closed to traffic and turned into a night market. Not unlike any night market everywhere else in Malaysia, 90% of the stalls are selling food, clothing, accessories and handicrafts. As mentioned in my earlier post, it was quite a disappointment for me as I have heard many good things about this place and it is a must visit place. Well, probably we weren't hunting for food, clothing, accessories and handicrafts. However, if you like the hustle and bustle of a night market, then this place may be a good place for you.
