When I Came Home for Mid-autumn Festival Dinner Tonight...

Today is the Mid-autumn Festival for the Chinese. It is the 15th day of the 8th Moon on the Lunar calender. It is important for a traditional Chinese family to have a reunion on this day, so my Mum 'instructed' me to come home for dinner.

Legend has it that there is a moon fairy called Chang Er who flew to the moon in the ancient time. However, when I arrived home, I didn't see the moon fairy, but what I saw was a chopped brine-soaked duck (滷水鴨) on a pale-white moon!

My mother used to cook the whole duck to serve the whole family, and this has become the must have item on the menu of any festival. I won't complain, as I like my Mum's version of brine-soaked duck which is on the sweet side. :)

Hope you'll find your fairy soon enough!

Maybe you should get on the Malaysian Astronaut program. You'll probably find one on the moon.

To terri: My mum used to get a large size duck as according to her, the meat is more tender. :)
