CK Goes to Italy – Sorrento

Sorrento is a small coastal town to the east of Naples. It is accessible by Circumvesuviana (an LRT-like train) or express boat from Naples. On 8th of June, 2006, I boarded a train on the Circumvesuviana line of which Sorrrnto was the terminal station.

It is a lovely place for a pleasant walk as I strolled from the train station to Piazza Tasso situated at the town centre.

A statue is placed right at the centre of Piazza Tasso.

By night, Piazza Tasso will be lit by these neo-classical street lights.

A road cutting through the valley of the cliffs with buildings on top offers a spectacular view.

Sea produce must be abundance for a resort town by the sea.

As I was approaching the Villa Comunale park, a palm tree was standing tall above the rest of the bushes.

Looking at the cliffs from the Villa Comunale park is spectacular.

And the view of the colourful cabins from Villa Comunale park is equally astonishing.

One can sit inside the courtyard of Chiesa di San Francesco just to laze around.

Sitting by the balcony to kill off a lazy afternoon is also not a bad idea at all.

There are flowers in the garden to ease your mind.

And probably you can bring one home to you love one.

Sorrento is indeed a very pleasant resort town that one can distress, unwind and reorganise one's thoughts.

As I walked trough the steps by the cliff down to the dock, I could see a building by the cliff with Vesuvio (Mt. Vesuvius) at a distance away.

Looking up the cliff from the dock is equally spectacular as compared to the view from above.

Once I was satisfied with my roaming around in Sorrento, I took a boat at Marina Piccola to Capri, which I will be featuring in the next post.

Thanks Dom, you were definitely the first person who dropped me a line after my official announcement to the Club members on Merdeka Day. :)
