Oxford: On the Street

The city centre of Oxford is just about 3 kilometres away from the train station, so I decided to walk. The advantage of walking over wheeled transport is that I get to see more on the street. Furthermore, there is considerable saving on travelling expenses.

There is an old saying that goes like this: "Where there is water, there is Chinese." Another version is: "Where there is sunshine, there is Chinese." The latest is: "Where there is people, there is Chinese."

All the streets in Oxford are lined with buildings of historical values. Therefore, it is really a pleasant city to walk around.

There are bountiful of bends and turnings that you are bound to seeing interesting things at every junction.

For every city with historical heritage, maintenance is inevitable to prolong its lifespan. Even a small repair on the pavement is an important element in the overall retrofitting work.

There are many old churches along the way. This is just one of the many beautiful churches along the streets of Oxford.

As a university city, there is no shortage of grocery supply from all the shops around here. Anything that you can find in a big city can be found here.

It is actually very easy to navigate around Oxford, but roadsigns are always welcome. However, getting lost in Oxford is almost an impossible thing.

In short, Oxford is a very pleasant city to spend a day or two indulging yourself in the academic environment or a short break from the big city life.

Gentle and Quiet

During out photo shoot with Kartrina, she brought along her friend Wen Jing (文静). Her Chinese name literally means gentle and quiet, hence the title of this post. I shot a series of photos of her and here's the results.

Woman at Forty (女人四十)

At the age of forty, my friend Sarah has a way of locking her age at her 30s'. I'm pretty sure that she doesn't mind me revealing her age here because she always tells me that she always look pretty no matter at what age, but I always give her the respond that she is a pretty old lady, teeheehee!
